HOMESTEAD COMPLEX STILL 1,636 ACRES, NOW 5 PERCENT CONTAINED

The seven fires of the Homestead Complex are still at 1,636 acres and are now 5 percent contained.

An Umpqua National Forest update said there are currently 495 personnel working on the incident.

An isolated warm front moved into the area Monday, bringing the chance of moisture, lower temperatures, higher humidities, and total cloud cover throughout the day. Fire intensity and rate of spread is expected to be minimal. Although rain may occur in some areas, it is unlikely that the fires in the complex will be affected.

Fire managers declared the 34-acre Lost Bucket Fire contained on Monday afternoon.

Monday, firefighters caught, lined and extinguished the spot fires on the 212-acre Reynolds Butte Fire with the help of a helicopter dropping water. Crews utilized hose lays in their operations and are continuing to expand and improve line around the fire.

Crew have completed handline on the 442-acre Horse Heaven Creek Fire. They will begin strengthening the defensible area around roads and the handline. Masticators arrived on the 133-acre Bullpup Fire and are working to complete fire line along the spur road. The 72-acre Fuller Lake Fire has also received additional heavy equipment that is beginning to clear the roads.

The 153-acre Salmon 33 Fire saw minimal fire activity Monday. Firefighters finished constructing line in several areas and are now working to strengthen the fire lines. Sawyers on the 591-acre No Man Fire are working to fell standing dead trees and hazardous trees along the recently finished fire line.
