A deputy with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office jailed a man on a reckless driving charge Saturday afternoon.

A DCSO report said at 1:40 p.m. the deputy stopped a sedan on Highway 38 near Breier Road, between Drain and Interstate 5. The vehicle was traveling at 117 miles per hour in a 55 mile per hour zone and passed another vehicle in a no passing lane.

The driver, a 63-year-old Portland man said he was just opening up the motor to see what it had. He was taken into custody and detained without bail. The man was released on Sunday.
