July 24, 2024 3:40 a.m.

A forest closure order has gone into effect for portions of the Umpqua National Forest in response to fire activity to protect public and wildland firefighter safety on the Rocky Ridge Fire.

A UNF release said this closure, which is in addition to an earlier closure on the North Zone of the forest, will mostly impact the Tiller Ranger District.

Prohibitions include:

*Being on a road

*Going into or being upon an area closed for the protection of public health and safety

*Being on a trail

These trailheads fall within the closure area: Castle Creek Trailhead; Skimmerhorn Trailhead; Fish Lake Trailhead; Beaver Swamp Trailhead; and Acker Divide Trailhead. An exception to this closure area is Forest Service Road 29 which will remain open adjacent to the closure area. All other roads and trails bounding the closure area are inaccessible.
