A Lakeside man was jailed for eluding police in a stolen vehicle on Wednesday.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said just after 7:20 a.m. a deputy received information about a pickup stolen from Florence. It was found about nine miles south of the intersection with Highway 126. The deputy advised other law enforcement regarding the vehicle’s location and attempted to stop it about four miles north of the intersection with Highway 38.

The driver eluded and after two failed spike attempts, the pursuit was terminated coming into Reedsport, due to heavy traffic. The deputy was able to see the pickup still headed southbound as it left Reedsport. The pursuit was reengaged about four miles south of town. The pickup crashed in the 100 block of Airport Way in Lakeside. The male suspect fled from the vehicle.

After a few hours of investigation, 25-year-old Scott Buckley was located in the 600 block of North 8th Street in Lakeside. Buckley was taken into custody and transported to corrections. He was charged with attempting to elude police in a vehicle, possession of a stolen vehicle, reckless driving, recklessly endangering another, and first-degree criminal mischief. Buckley was detained without bail.
