DFPA FIRE UPDATE FOR EARLY THURSDAY

Crews with the Douglas Forest Protective Association are dealing with fires that began as a result of lightning storms that swept across the district late Tuesday.

In the Glendale area:

*Middle Fork Fire: Located about 6.5 miles northeast of Glendale. It is estimated to be 1/10th of an acre. The fire continues to be in patrol status.

*Panther Creek Fire: Located about 5.5 miles north of Glendale. It is estimated to be 0.7 acres in size. Resources are making significant progress in suppressing this fire. Fallers have been released and extensive mop-up continues.

*Lawson Creek Fire: Located about 3.5 miles northeast of Glendale. It is estimated to be 3 to 4 acres in size. This fire is currently 100 percent trailed, 100 percent plumbed and engaged in mop-up.

In the Elkton/Scottsburg area:

*Little Stony Fire: Located about 6 miles north of Highway 38. It is estimated to be 2.1 acres. At this time, this fire is 100 percent hand-trailed, plumbed and in mop-up status.

DFPA says there is no threat to homes and structures in the area of these fires.
