OSFM SENDS CREWS TO FALLS FIRE IN HARNEY COUNTY

July 15, 2024 7:00 a.m.

The Oregon State Fire Marshall has sent its Blue Incident Management Team and four task forces to the Falls Fire burning 20 miles northeast of Riley in Harney County.

An OSFM release said hot, dry and windy conditions caused the fire to grow rapidly, pushing it to 55,000 acres with zero percent containment as of Sunday afternoon.

The Grant and Harney County sheriff’s offices have evacuation orders in place.

A Red Flag warning was in effect Sunday with temperatures in the mid-90s and very low relative humidity.
