LIVE FIREFIGHTER TRAINING HAPPENING FRIDAY

July 12, 2024 9:30 a.m.

A live firefighter training for the Camas Valley Rural Fire District is happening Friday near the 1000 block of Main Camas Road in Camas Valley.

Public Information Officer Rachel Pope of the Douglas Forest Protective Association said a prescribed burn permit has been issued, allowing firefighters to safely burn 2 acres of pasture grounds. Pope said smoke may be visible in the area starting at 6:00 p.m.

Pope said the main objective of the prescribed burn is to remove noxious weeds, brush, insects and plant diseases from the burn site while providing live fire training for multiple agencies. Fire suppression equipment and personnel on-site will maintain control of the prescribed burn.
