Monday was the hottest day of the year so far in the Umpqua Valley and set another record high for the date.
Forecasters at the National Weather Service told News Radio 93-9 FM and 1240 KQEN that the mercury reached 108 degrees at the Roseburg Regional Airport.
The previous hottest days of the year were 107 degrees on Saturday, 106 degrees, registered on Sunday, and 104 degrees on Friday.
Roseburg’s high also broke the record for July 8th. The previous high was 100 degrees, set 72 years ago in 1952. Roseburg has seen record breaking temperatures for the date every day since Friday. That is likely to happen again on Tuesday as the current record for July 9th is 98 degrees, set in 2010. Forecasters at the National Weather Service told KQEN that they are trying to determine if Roseburg has ever had five days of record-breaking temperatures for the date in a row.
Roseburg is slated to drop back to the 90s every day in the foreseeable future, starting on Wednesday.
