RED FLAG WARNING FOR REGION SUNDAY 2:00 P.M. TO 11:00 P.M.

A Red Flag Warning is in effect for the region on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.

A Urgent Fire Weather Message from the National Weather Service said the Warning applies to the Umpqua National Forest, Klamath National Forest- Umpqua Basin, western Rogue Basin including Illinois Valley, eastern Rogue Valley, Southern Oregon Cascades and the Siskiyou Mountains.

Northwest winds will be between 10 to 15 miles per hour with gusts as high as 25 miles per hour.

Residents should avoid tossing burning cigarettes on the ground, parking hot vehicles on dry vegetation and using equipment that can cause sparks. Follow all fire restrictions.

Those who have not packed an evacuation kit, should do so now. Vehicles should be filled with fuel.

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now or will shortly. These conditions promote rapid spread of fire which may become life threatening.
