WINSTON POLICE JAIL MAN FOLLOWING ALLEGED JULY 4TH WEAPONS INCIDENT

Winston Police jailed a man following an alleged July 4th weapons incident.

A WPD report said at approximately 10:15 p.m. the 31-year-old allegedly discharged a shotgun and revolver into the ground on Northeast Grape Avenue. The suspect said he had done so in an attempt to participate in the evening’s festivities. He reportedly attempted to fire a 9mm handgun but was unsuccessful.

When officers approached the residence, they could hear the man firing the shotgun multiple times. The suspect cooperated with officers and was taken into custody without incident. He was charged with unlawful use of a weapon and second-degree disorderly conduct.

The man was detained without bail and was released on Friday.
