The National Weather Service has a Red Flag Warning in effect Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. for much of the Interstate Five corridor from the Umpqua Valley into northern California.

A Fire Weather Watch is in place from Saturday afternoon through Sunday evening as well.

Strong gusty winds could lead to critical fire weather conditions. These conditions promote the rapid spread of fire which may become life threatening. Forecasters said residents should follow all fire restrictions and gather their fire evacuation kit now. Make sure vehicles are filled with fuel.
