An Excessive Heat Warning remains in effect through 9:00 p.m. Monday for central Douglas County and its eastern foothills including Roseburg, Sutherlin and Toketee Falls.

This could lead to record-breaking high temperatures for each of the upcoming five days.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said high temperatures of 105 to 110 degrees with low temperatures in the mid to upper 60s are expected over multiple days.

Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat events, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities. Area rivers will be cold and can cause shock to swimmers.

Forecasters said residents should drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when symptoms of heat exhaustion or heat stroke are seen.
