ROSEBURG POLICE CITE MEN FOR THEFT DUE TO SHOPPING CARTS

Roseburg Police cited two men for theft for incidents involving shopping carts on Monday.

An RPD report said at 9:30 a.m. a 54-year-old was contacted at his camp at the intersection of Northeast Diamond Lake Boulevard and Northeast Fulton Street. The camp had trash scattered all around it and there were two shopping carts there. An officer had previously warned the man that he would be cited for theft, if he was contacted with a cart. He was cited for second-degree theft and offensive littering and was released on the scene. The carts were released to the store that owned them.

At 10:15 a.m. a 58-year-old was contacted at his camp in the 200 block of Southeast Pine Street, where he was in possession of two shopping carts. The man had previously been warned that he would be cited for theft if he was caught with a cart. He was cited for second-degree theft and was released on the scene. The carts were recovered and later released back to the stores.
