July 2, 2024 4:00 a.m.

An Excessive Heat Watch remains in effect from Thursday morning through Sunday evening for inland areas in southern Oregon and northern California.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said dangerously hot conditions with high temperatures between 100 and 115 degrees are expected with low temperatures in the mid 60’s.

In Oregon the Watch applies to areas between the coast and the Cascades including Illinois Valley, Roseburg, Grants Pass, Medford and Ashland. In California it includes western Siskiyou County including Weed, Yreka, McCloud, and area valleys.

Forecasters said heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events. Residents should drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun and check up on relatives and neighbors.
