RAZOR CLAMMING NOW OPEN FROM COOS BAY TO THE CALIFORNIA BORDER

June 29, 2024 11:50 a.m.

Razor clamming is now open from the Coos Bay south jetty to the California border.

A release from the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife said two consecutive tests showed biotoxin levels below the closure limit in the area from Coos Bay to Cape Blanco.

Mussel harvest remains closed coastwide and bay clamming remains closed from Cascade Head to the California border for high levels of marine biotoxin paralytic shellfish poison. Razor clamming remains closed from Yachats to Coos Bay for high levels of PSP and domoic acid.

The release said the Oregon Department of Agriculture will continue testing for shellfish toxins at least twice per month, as tides and weather permit. Reopening an area closed for biotoxins requires two consecutive tests with results below the closure limit.
