ALL LANES ON FREEWAY GARDEN VALLEY OFF RAMP NOW OPEN

After eight months of construction, all three lanes of the northbound off-ramp from Interstate 5 at the Garden Valley Exit 125 interchange opened early Wednesday morning.

Dan Latham of the Oregon Department of Transportation said the new off-ramp configuration includes a lane for vehicles continuing straight onto Northwest Mulholland Drive as well as dedicated left-turn and right-turn lanes onto Northwest Garden Valley Boulevard. Latham said drivers should watch for directional signs and pavement markings when traveling through the new pattern for the first time.

For drivers heading south on Mulholland Drive, the new traffic signals provide a protected green arrow for vehicles turning left onto Garden Valley Boulevard. Before this change, drivers would often have to wait for oncoming traffic to clear before they could turn left.

Latham said prime contractor Knife River Materials began work on the $2.4 million project in October. In addition to adding a right-turn lane to the ramp, the project also replaced traffic signals and ADA curb ramps. Knife River also repaved the intersection and part of the ramp.
