Roseburg Police jailed a man for an alleged robbery incident on Saturday.

An RPD report said at 6:20 p.m. officers responded to a business in the 3100 block of Northeast Stephens Street. A caller said that a man had been shoplifting and had assaulted an employee while attempting to leave with stolen property. Witnesses reported the man was running in and out of traffic in the street and hitting vehicles with his hands.

39-year-old Scott Richards was taken into custody and charged with third-degree counts of robbery and theft, fourth-degree assault, and second-degree disorderly conduct. Richards was detained without bail.
