COW CREEK UMPQUA INDIAN FOUNDATION AWARDS NEARLY $858,000

On Tuesday the Cow Creek Umpqua Indian Foundation awarded eighty-two charities a total of $857,975 in its spring round of giving.

The awards presentation took place at the Seven Feathers Convention Center in Canyonville. The non-profits receiving awards are located in Coos, Deschutes, Douglas, Jackson, Josephine, Klamath and Lane counties. Grants are awarded semi-annually in June and January.

The foundation awarded eleven non-profits in Douglas County a total of $139,000. That includes:

*$15,000 each to the City of Oakland, Family Faith and Relationship Advocates, Family Relief Nursery, Onward Roseburg, the Friendly Kitchen/Meals on Wheels, the Trust for Public Land, United Community Action Network and the YMCA of Douglas County.

*$7,000 each to the Elkton Community Education Center and the South Douglas Food Bank.

*$5,000 to Glide Revitalization.

The CCUIF was founded in 1997 and began its philanthropic efforts in 1998. To date, it has given out nearly $25 million. Foundation giving is separate from other giving from the Cow Creek Umpqua Tribe.
