An SPD report said just after 12:15 a.m. officers observed a vehicle being driven recklessly near the intersection of North Grove Lane and East Central Avenue. The car was located a few minutes later. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but it accelerated and drove east on Nonpareil Road. The vehicle drove up Banks Creek Road with the lights off in an attempt to hide, but officers saw the vehicle.
The driver, 42-year-old Michael Hammond, showed signs of impairment. A search warrant was granted, and a blood sample was collected. Hammond was charged with attempting to elude a police officer in a vehicle, reckless driving, a felony probation violation and for driving under the influence of intoxicants.
