Yoga in the Park sessions in Roseburg begin Saturday mornings in July.
A City release said Roseburg Parks and Recreation, along with a number of yoga instructors, are sponsoring free yoga sessions in a tranquil riverfront setting in Stewart Park, east of the bandshell. Yoga sessions will be held every Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. from July 6th through August 31st.
Classes showcasing various styles and techniques will be taught by Rose Bryant, and a crew of other volunteer instructors. The classes are suited to all levels of yoga practice.
Parks and Recreation Coordinator Tracy David said, “This is one of our most popular recreation programs and we see members from the community of all ages attending. This form of low-impact fitness and stretching provides many health benefits that may improve your quality of life”. David said this class is especially beneficial for those who may be new to yoga.
Participants should arrive a few minutes early to sign in and be ready to start at 10:00 a.m. Attendees should bring their own yoga mat or blanket. Organizers recommend not eating or drinking for at least one hour before class. Those who arrive early to sign in will be entered into a Thrive Umpqua co-sponsored drawing held after class.
