On June 5th, Winston-Dillard School District’s superintendent Kim Kellison formally announced her resignation to the school community.
A WDSD release said after much consideration and reflection, she made the decision to resign from her current position to live closer to and care for her family.
Kellison said, “I want to take this opportunity to express my deepest gratitude to the entire Winston-Dillard School District Community and school board. It has been an honor and privilege to serve as superintendent”. Kellison said, “Dedication throughout our schools has been instrumental in our collective goal to provide the best possible education for our students. Together, we have made significant strides in helping our students grow into lifelong learners”.
Kellison has served as the district’s superintendent since July 2022. Approximately 1,300 students from grades K-12 attend this six-campus district. In 2019, the passing of a general obligation bond measure allowed for infrastructure and safety upgrades at the Douglas High School campus, which included a new high school building, gymnasium and parking lot.
The release said during Kellison’s tenure, she has focused on making safety upgrades and contracted with the Winston Police Department to provide the district with two school resource officers and received the COPS grant to fund significant safety upgrades. Kellison also focused on educator support including professional development, career and technical expansions, and student achievements.
Kellison will fulfill her duties through June before stepping into the role of interim superintendent for the Silver Falls School District in Silverton.
Kellison said, “I am confident that the Winston-Dillard School District will continue to move forward together as a community making a positive impact in the lives of our students”.
Winston-Dillard School District’s School Board of Directors will soon begin the superintendent hiring process.
