A missing man was found near his home in the Sutherlin area on Wednesday morning.

Lieutenant Brad O’Dell of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office told News Radio 93-9 FM and 1240 KQEN that 68-year-old Lynn Simmons was located walking on Plat K Road at around 9:20 a.m. O’Dell said that Simmons was taken to his home to be checked out by medical personnel.

Simmons, who is legally blind and has mental health diagnoses, left his residence in the 300 block of Justa Lane at approximately 9:00 p.m. Sunday night. Douglas County Search and Rescue, with help from other agencies, had been looking for Simmons in the rural area east of Sutherlin.

O’Dell said more information would be released later by DCSO.
