A woman was taken to the hospital following a single vehicle wreck Friday afternoon.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said just before 1:30 p.m. the 80-year-old driver apparently fell asleep, causing her vehicle to leave the roadway and hit a tree in the 5000 block of Flourney Valley Road, west of Melrose. The Jeep ended up on its side and the woman had to be extricated from her vehicle.

She didn’t complain of pain but was transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
