A transient was jailed by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Sunday for a stolen golf cart incident.

A DCSO report said at 11:30 p.m. a deputy stopped the golf cart near the intersection of Salmon Harbor and Lighthouse Road in Winchester Bay. The deputy learned the 34-year-old had taken the cart from a camp host without permission. While speaking with the man, he reportedly showed indicators of impairment.

The suspect performed standard field sobriety tests and admitted to drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana. He was placed into custody and transported to corrections where he provided a breath sample and a urine sample.

The man was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, and for driving under the influence of intoxicants. The golf cart driver was detained without bail.
