A Sutherlin business burned in a fire Sunday night.
Division Chief Brandan McGarr of the Sutherlin Fire Department said at approximately 8:45 p.m. crews were dispatched to the commercial structure fire in the 200 block of West Central Avenue. McGarr said the first Sutherlin fire engine arrived to find heavy smoke and fire coming from multiple openings, with multiple exposures. The building was occupied by Upscale Resale.
McGarr said the fire was immediately upgraded to a second alarm calling for additional mutual aid assistance. It was knocked down within 8 minutes of firefighters arriving and the second alarm was canceled.
On-scene resources included 3 engines, 1 ladder truck, 2 command vehicles and 1 ambulance with more than 26 personnel assisting with operations. Sutherlin Fire was assisted by Fair Oaks Rural Fire District, Oakland Rural Fire District, Sutherlin Police, Oregon State Police, and other agencies.
McGarr said no civilians or firefighters were injured in the fire. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
