Roseburg Public Library will host a book reading and signing with local author Katherine Visher Newman on Saturday at 11:00 a.m.

A City release said Newman will share and sell copies of her recently published book, “Ripples of Grace: The Journal of Grace Visscher”. It is a novel based on the only record of the founding of Holland, Michigan from a woman’s perspective. Visscher, Newman’s great-great-great grandmother, was born in 1820 in the Netherlands, then immigrated to the United States with her church. Together they built a city of religious tolerance, higher learning, and prosperity.

Newman is an elementary school teacher, genealogist and writer who lives in Roseburg.
