An opportunity to help a family with connections to Douglas County is happening during Owen’s Benefit Golf Tournament on Saturday June 1st.

13-year-old Owen Weaver is a grandson of local businessperson Shannon Sebastian. In September of last year, Owen’s family was leaving Corvallis following an Oregon State University football game, when their vehicle was rear-ended by a distracted driver, traveling at highway speeds. Owen suffered a life-changing traumatic brain injury in the accident. He has been receiving care in Chicago for the last several months. Other family members were also injured in the wreck.

With the plan to eventually return home to Clackamas County being put together, the family knows that major modifications will have to be made to where Owen lives. Lots of other expenses are ahead for the family as well.

Owen’s Benefit Golf Tournament will be a 4-man scramble. Lunch will be provided along with side games, a live auction and more. Entry fee is $600 per team. Teams, sponsors and other help are needed for the event. To sign up or get more information, email: golfingforowen@gmail.com

Shannon Sebastian and Garrett Weaver talked about Owen’s situation and needs the family has on Inside Douglas County Wednesday on News Radio 93-9 FM and 1240 KQEN. That interview is a KQEN Podcast at www.541radio.com
