Umpqua Valley Habitat for Humanity has received a $100,000 member impact grant from Rogue Credit Union and the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines.

Executive Director Robin Hartmann said funds will support ongoing efforts to build and repair homes for those in need in Douglas County, and to open the organization’s first Habitat ReStore.

Hartmann said, “We’re so thankful to have Rogue Credit Union as a partner, especially at a time when we’re focused on building capacity to serve more people in need of affordable housing in our county”.  Hartmann said, “This generous grant will help with three major initiatives including our critical home repair program, our Twin Oaks Neighborhood project in Riddle, and open our first official Habitat Restore in the in the former Knecht’s Auto Parts stores across from the Roseburg Library later this summer”.

A Habitat release said Rogue Credit Union will invest a total of $800,000 in local communities through a Member impact Fund grant which opened to just a handful of states this year, including Oregon. In collaboration with the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines, Rogue will make eight grants to nonprofits who serve Oregon residents and focus on affordable housing in local communities.

Umpqua Valley Habitat has been building and repairing homes in central Douglas County since 1996. Habitat has completed over 50 repair projects since 2021 to allow homeowners to feel safer and more secure in their own homes.
