WALK AND ROLL TO SCHOOL ON WEDNESDAY

May 6, 2024 2:50 a.m.

Four schools in the Roseburg School District and one school in north county are participating in Walk and Roll to School Day later this week.

A Douglas Education Service District release said Oregon Safe Routes to School promotes the event as a way to enhance the health of families through walking, bicycling, scooting, and rolling to school. This can help kids improve their strength and endurance, decrease anxiety and stress, and maintain a healthy weight. The organization works to create permanent, safe walking and biking routes and improve neighborhood livability for residents.

Schools participating on Wednesday are:

*Fullerton IV Elementary starting at the corner of West Sharp Avenue and West Berdine Street from 8:25 a.m. to 8:50 a.m.

*Sunnyslope Elementary beginning at the end of the field on Austin Road from 8:25 a.m. to 8:50 a.m.

*Winchester Elementary starting in the parking lot behind Del Rey’s from 8:25 a.m. to 8:50 a.m.
