CITY COUNTY PLANNING COMMISSIONS MEETING ON LAND SWAP PROPOSAL

May 6, 2024 3:40 a.m.

The City of Roseburg Planning Commission and the Douglas County Planning Commission will have a joint meeting Monday night at 6:00 p.m. to discuss a proposed urban growth boundary swap.

The meeting will be held in the city’s council chambers on Southeast Douglas Avenue.

A City release said Roseburg seeks to encourage more housing construction by bringing easier-to-develop land within an area expected to grow over the next 20 years. The proposal would trade two undeveloped properties with severe slopes and significant development constraints for flat residential land in the Charter Oaks area that would be easier to develop for housing.

The public hearing will begin with a staff report, followed by audience comments. The two commissions will have a joint discussion before deciding their recommendation for either the Roseburg City Council or the Douglas County Board of Commissioners.

At future meetings both the council and the commissioners would each have to vote in favor of the land swap for it to be approved.
