MYRTLE CREEK MAN DETAINED, DRIVING ON 3 WHEELS AND A RIM

April 30, 2024 9;30 a.m.

A Myrtle Creek man was detained after he was reported to be driving his SUV on three wheels and a rim on Monday night.

An Oregon State Police report said just after 5:20 p.m. the driver was allegedly swerving while heading southbound just north of the Roberts Mountain Summit. The SUV was located, and a traffic stop was performed. On contact the 53-year-old exhibited signs of intoxicants and stimulant usage. Standard field sobriety tests were performed, and the man allegedly showed additional indicators of intoxicants and stimulant usage.

In the search of his person, a small bag of heroin was reportedly found in his right chest pocket. The man admitted to using. He was placed into custody and taken to jail.    The driver was charged with driving under the influence of intoxicants and for reckless driving. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
