CONGRESSMAN BENTZ TO LEAD HEARING ON DELISTING GREY WOLF

April 30, 2024 3:05 a.m.

On Friday, Congressman Cliff Bentz will lead an oversight field hearing titled, “How Many Wolves Are Enough? Examining the Need to Delist the Gray Wolf”.

A Bentz release said the hearing will take place in Minnesota and provide a platform for expert testimony on the multifaceted implications of the gray wolf surge, including its economic, ecological, and societal ramifications. In addition, it will scrutinize the federal government’s role in addressing the issue and examine potential pathways forward.

Bentz said, “Wolves are natural-born killers, and they are wreaking havoc upon wildlife, preying on livestock, and damaging the ability of fish and wildlife agencies to do their jobs”. Bentz said, “The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service has admitted that ‘wolves are not at risk of extinction in the Western United States now or in the foreseeable future’, so we must ask ourselves: how many wolves are enough”.

The hearing will be Friday at 7:00 a.m. It can be watched at: https://www.youtube.com/@NaturalResourcesGp

Congressman Bentz will talk more about the Gray Wolf issues on Inside Douglas County Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. on News Radio 93-9 FM and 1240 KQEN.
