GLIDE WILDFLOWER SHOW HAPPENING SATURDAY AND SUNDAY

The 59th annual Glide Wildflower Show is happening this weekend.

The event runs from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday at the Glide Community Center. The show opens both days for one hour at 8:00 a.m. for photographers. Starting at 9:30 a.m. Ken Carloni, retired botany professor at Umpqua Community College, will offer an informative and fun-filled tour of the show.

Two talks will be given on Saturday. At 11:00 a.m. Richard Helliwell, a retired USFS Botanist, will give a talk about Moss Diversity in the Pacific Northwest. At 1:00 p.m. there will be a talk about Traditional Plants of the Cow Creek Tribe. The Tribe’s cultural resource coordinator, Cassandra Nava, will make the presentation.

Sunday Steve Yeager will give a presentation on Herbal Concepts and Pacific Northwest Medicinal and Edible Plants.

Both days at 2:00 p.m. there will be a guided wildflower walk held on the Wolf Creek Falls Trail. The hike will be on a relatively easy section of the trail.

The show includes Wildwood Nursery selling native plants and Elder Oak Nursery with native seed packets for sale. The Roseburg Beekeepers will have an exhibit and be available to answer questions.

Admission is free but donations are accepted.
