April 25, 2024 11:10 a.m.

A house in Green is considered a total loss following a fire Wednesday night.

Battalion Chief Josh Waechter of Douglas County Fire District No. 2 said at 9:25 p.m. crews from DCFD2 and Winston-Dillard Fire District were dispatched to the structure fire on Harmony Drive. Waechter said initial reports indicated that the structure was fully involved and spreading to nearby houses.

Waechter said thanks to the efficient response of firefighters, the fire was stopped from spreading and was contained to the single structure. The house sustained significant damage, but the single occupant of the residence was able to get out safely. No injuries were reported by the resident or firefighters working on the scene.

DCFD2 responded to the incident with five fire engines and one command unit, totaling 16 personnel. Due to the heavy fire damage, crews could  not determine the cause of the fire.

Personnel from Avista Gas and Pacific Power assisted at the scene.
