WATER RESCUE TUESDAY AFTERNOON AT AMACHER PARK IN WINCHESTER

Crews with Douglas County Fire District No. 2 rescued a single occupant from an aluminum boat that had become lodged in the rapids at Amacher Park in Winchester on Tuesday afternoon.

Battalion Chief Mitch Doss said the agency was dispatched just before 4:30 p.m.  Doss said shortly after arriving, crews located the fishing boat. The Technical Rescue Team established command, set up crews downriver for safety and launched their paddle raft. Doss said they were able to free the boat from the rapids without issue. No injuries occurred.

DCFD2 responded with 1 engine, 2 rescue units, 1 ambulance and a command unit with a total of 11 personnel. Crews were assisted by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
