WORK CONTINUES ON NORTHBOUND EXIT 125 OFF-RAMP AT GARDEN VALLEY

A contractor for the Oregon Department of Transportation is continuing work on the Interstate 5, Exit 125 northbound off-ramp at Garden Valley Boulevard.

Dan Latham from ODOT said the project adds a third lane to the northbound off-ramp, which will be a dedicated right-turn lane. Latham said to make room for the new lane, crews have to widen the off-ramp on both sides. When the project began last fall, the contractor began work on the east side, building a retaining wall on Northwest Munson Court and widening the ramp on the other side. Latham said concrete barrier has now been placed on the west side of the off-ramp, so the contractor will have a safe place to work.

There will be some nighttime closures on the northbound on-ramp and off-ramp, both located at the southeast corner of the interchange. Drivers should watch for roadside message boards, which will announce closure dates. Latham said ramp closures will only be at night – from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. on Sunday nights through Friday mornings. During the off-ramp closure, northbound drivers can continue north to Exit 127 and use the Edenbower Boulevard interchange to turn around and reach Exit 125 from the southbound direction.

Latham said when the off-ramp is widened enough to accommodate three lanes, crews will pave the ramp and intersection, stripe the turn lanes, and turn on the new traffic signals. ODOT estimates that the project will be completed by early summer.
