PARTY AFFILIATION & VOTER REGISTRATION DEADLINE FOR MAY PRIMARY

April 23, 2024 3:35 a.m.

Douglas County Clerk Daniel Loomis has released information on party affiliation and the voter registration deadline for the May 2024 Primary Election.

Tuesday, April 30th is the last day for anyone who wishes to participate to register to vote. Loomis recommends checking and updating affiliation and registration information early to avoid delays. Residents can securely check their party affiliation and voter registration and register to vote by going to: https://sos.oregon.gov/voting-elections/

Loomis said voters may print a downloadable pdf found at: https://sos.oregon.gov/elections/Documents/SEL500.pdf, and return their completed forms to his office by utilizing one of these methods:

*Email: Voters may email their completed voter registration form to: elections@douglascountyor.gov

*Fax: Completed voter registration forms can be faxed to 440-4408

*Mail: They can be sent in to: Douglas County at 1036 SE Douglas Avenue, Room CH 124

Loomis said voters can also register in-person at the Clerk’s office.

Both major parties have chosen to hold closed primaries in May. This means partisan candidates for the two major parties are only seen on a voter’s ballot if they are affiliated with one of the two major political parties.

Ballots are scheduled to be put into the mail on May 1st. The Oregon Voters Pamphlet should start arriving around May 3rd. Douglas County does not publish a county voter pamphlet. Current county candidate filings and measure filings are listed on the clerk’s website: https://douglascountyor.gov/178/Elections
