SCIENCE CELEBRATION DINNER HIGHLIGHTS SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

April 22, 2024 9:40 a.m.

A Science Celebration Night presenting information on a $4,500 scholarship program supporting industrial science careers will be held on May 14th at 6:00 p.m. in the Health, Nursing and Science Center at Umpqua Community College.

A college release said the free event and dinner will present the benefits of the pathway to students and parents while celebrating brand new scholars and current participants moving on to the university level.

The scholarship program, also known as the “Oregon Pathways to Industrial Research Careers” is a partnership between UCC and the University of Oregon, with support from the National Science Foundation. Interested students and community members can learn about the program and meet with faculty from UCC and UO. Students at several stages of the pathway will speak about their experience.

High school and college students interested in engineering, chemistry, biology, physics or computer science, and their families are encouraged to attend.

Sign up to attend before May 1st by going to: https://umpqua.edu/ucc/opirc/ or calling 440-7736.
