ROSEBURG POLICE JAIL MAN FOR ALLEGED STORE THEFT

Roseburg Police jailed a man for an alleged store theft on Saturday.

An RPD report said shortly after 2:00 p.m. officers stopped a vehicle in the 500 block of Northeast Prospect Street after it was reported to have left a business in the 3000 block of Aviation Drive with stolen merchandise.

Officers contacted a 32-year-old man who was a passenger in the vehicle. He had a warrant for his arrest and admitted to stealing the items from the store. The driver was not involved and was initially unaware of the situation. The passenger was charged with first-degree theft and for the warrant. The stolen property – valued at over $1,000, was located and recovered.
