ROSEBURG POLICE JAIL MAN FOLLOWING ELUDE INCIDENT

Roseburg Police jailed a man following an elude incident on Wednesday night.

An RPD report said at 6:20 p.m. officers had probable cause to arrest 61-year-old Robert Bateson for violating a restraining order and were notified of his whereabouts. Officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop while Bateson was on his motorcycle, and he fled.

After a short pursuit, Bateson was located hiding in a residence in the 1700 block of Northeast Freemont Avenue. He was arrested without incident. Bateson was charged with attempting to elude police in a vehicle, reckless driving and for a restraining order violation. Bateson was detained on $5,000 bail.
