COTTAGE GROVE MEN JAILED FOR FREEWAY DUII

April April 6, 9:00 a.m.

Two Cottage Grove men were jailed for an alleged DUII incident early Saturday.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said just after 12:00 a.m. a deputy stopped a pickup on Interstate Five about a mile north of the Yoncalla/Drain interchange due to speed and seeing a beer can being thrown out of the vehicle.

The driver, 44-year-old Michael Williams, showed signs of impairment. Williams refused standard field sobriety tests and was taken into custody. The passenger, also aged 44, admitted to throwing the beer can. He returned with a warrant out of Lane County and was detained on $20,.000 bail.

After being taken into custody, Williams refused the breath test. A search was written and granted. Five hours after the traffic stop, Williams blew a .15 blood alcohol content. Williams was charged with DUII, reckless driving, and recklessly endangering another. He was detained without bail.
