CANYONVILLE WOMAN DIES IN VEHICLE VERSUS PEDESTRIAN CRASH

A Canyonville woman died in a vehicle versus pedestrian crash early Thursday morning.

An Oregon State Police report said at 3:00 a.m. troopers responded to the accident on Interstate Five northbound in the Canyonville area. Captain Kyle Kennedy said a preliminary investigation indicated that the pedestrian, 82-year-old Sally Kaye Bidlake, was kneeling in the slow lane when she was struck by a northbound minivan operated by a California man.

Bidlake was declared deceased at the scene. The motorist and his passengers were not injured.

The freeway was not impacted during the on-scene investigation. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

OSP was assisted by the Canyonville Fire Department and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
