CITY OF OAKLAND TO CELEBRATE HISTORIC OAKLAND BRIDGE

March 29, 2024 3:05 a.m.

The City of Oakland will celebrate the Historic Oakland Bridge with a Sunday Stroll on April 7th.

With a new bridge recently in place, demolition of the nearly 100-year-old bridge is scheduled to begin in mid-April. Oakland Mayor Bette Keehley said the event will go from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Keehley said those attending are encouraged to dress in 1920’s clothes, since the bridge is from that era.

Popcorn and lemonade will be available. Chairs will be provided for those who want or need them to sit and enjoy the views. The museum, Oakland Playschool, the Oakland Singers of Historic Oakland, Oregon, and a few other community groups will be at the event as well.
