ADAPT INTEGRATED HEALTH CARE CELEBRATES DOCTOR’S DAY 2024 ON SATURDAY

March 29, 2024 2:50 a.m.

Adapt Integrated Health Care is joining the nation in celebrating Doctor’s Day this Saturday.

An Adapt release said the designation is held to recognize the talented group of physicians that provide compassionate care to underserved populations across the community.

The day was official designated in 1990 by President George H.W. Bush, but its origins trace back to its initial observance on March 30th,1933. The chosen date celebrates the first use of general anesthesia in surgery by Dr. Crawford W. Long in 1842. This date is a commemoration of how medical providers must excel during a long and rigorous process of study from undergraduate, to medical school, to residency requiring self and family sacrifice.

Adapt Chief Medical Officer Dr. Theresa Lundy said, “I have loved being a doctor. I have worked for most of my career with underserved populations. I enjoy being able to teach and encourage patients how to take care of their own health”. Lundy said, “I work with dedicated and highly devoted employees”.

Dr. Gabrielle Bosworth, who joined from a local residency program, said, “It is a true privilege to be able to work with the people of Douglas County to improve their health and live a full and healthy life”.
