WINTER STORM WARNING/WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY THROUGH 5:00 P.M. TUESDAY

A Winter Storm Warning and a Winter Weather Advisory are in effect through 5:00 p.m. Tuesday for mountain areas in parts of southern Oregon.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said for the Warning, heavy snow is expected with additional accumulations of up to 14 inches. For the Advisory, an additional 4 to 11 inches is forecast. Winds will gust as high as 45 miles per hour.

The Warning and the Advisory are for the south central and southern Oregon Cascades and Siskiyou Mountains. Affected roadways include highways 138, 232, and 230, around Diamond Lake and Crater Lake as well as Highway 58 near Willamette Pass and Highway 140 through the Cascades.

Forecasters said travel could be very difficult to impossible. Those who must travel should keep tire chains, a flashlight, blankets, food, water, medications and a fully charged phone with them.
