The Roseburg School District invites the community to celebrate the completion of the new softball field with an event Tuesday afternoon at RHS.

It will be held from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the new facility which is located behind the Finlay Field bleachers on the RHS campus.

Superintendent Jared Cordon said, “The field is about possibilities”. Cordon said, “Look at what can be achieved when our community works together to support students”. Cordon said the new softball field will serve students and the community for generations to come, offering a beautiful space for athletics and other outdoor activities.

The event will feature free food and the opportunity to check out the field and its features. The district has also invited local contractors and businesses who contributed to the field’s completion since construction began last summer.

A district release said the goal is to provide as many opportunities for youth and community use as possible at the new facility. The project has included premium turf for the field, dugouts, a scoreboard, batting cages, spectator seating and bullpens. While primarily intended for softball, the space was constructed for multi-use capabilities such as soccer and lacrosse.

The RHS varsity softball team will hold its season opener at the new facility at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
