ROSEBURG MAN JAILED FOR ALLEGED STRANGULATION/ASSAULT

A Roseburg man was jailed by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office following a disturbance on Monday morning.

A DCSO report said at 8:30 a.m. a deputy was sent to the 700 block of Buckhorn Road in the Dixonville area. 67-year-old Michael Smith was allegedly getting physical with the victim, slamming a door in her face and choking her. The victim had a chipped tooth and reddening around her neck consistent with her allegations. Smith said the argument turned physical when the victim started kicking at him and he pushed her away.

Smith was charged with strangulation, fourth-degree assault and for harassment. He was detained without bail.
