The Roseburg High School Foundation has named Massimo Falleni as its Future First Citizen for 2024.
The award was given out during an event at Roseburg High School on Thursday night.
Falleni earned $10,000 toward tuition at the college of his choice. Massimo plans to major in physics and go into scientific research with the goal of becoming an astrophysicist. His activities at RHS have included tennis, soccer, wind ensemble, jazz band, cheer, and the chess club. He is currently the front desk manager and a coach at the Umpqua Valley Tennis Center. Massimo is also a soccer referee and volunteer youth representative for Umpqua United Soccer Club. Academic awards have included receiving the Feather and the Social Studies Award of Excellence. He is the president of the RHS chess club.
Finalists Christina Chi, Elias Malak, Kate Dammann and Malia Reichel Martin Narciso each earned $4,000 scholarships.
The Future First Citizen recognition and scholarship award was initiated for RHS seniors approximately 20 years ago. The Roseburg High School Foundation Board assumed oversight of the recognition in 2020.
