ROSEBURG WOMAN CITED FOLLOWING OVERNIGHT WRECK

March 6, 2024 10:10 a.m.

A deputy with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office cited a Roseburg woman following an overnight wreck early Wednesday morning.

A DCSO report said at 1:45 a.m. a neighbor called and said they had heard a crash at the intersection of Melrose Road and Colonial Road in Melrose. The reporting party said a vehicle had driven through the intersection and hit a tree head-on.

The driver, a 29-year-old, admitted to drinking and the deputy checked her condition. Paramedics transported the driver and a passenger to CHI Mercy Medical Center. The passenger had a large head laceration. The driver had a possible broken nose, along with head, neck and back pain. Once at the hospital, the driver consented to a blood draw which was sent to the lab for analysis.

The driver was cited for third-degree assault, driving under the influence of intoxicants, a misdemeanor count of driving while suspended and for reckless driving. The vehicle was towed from the accident scene.
