WINTER STORM WARNING ABOVE 1800 FEET IN CENTRAL DOUGLAS COUNTY

A Winter Storm Warning is in effect through 4:00 p.m. Tuesday above 1,800 feet for central Douglas County and its eastern foothills.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said heavy snow is expected with accumulations of 2 to 6 inches with up to 12 inches above 3,000 feet in the foothills.

The Warning is for elevations above 1,800 feet. This includes the passes on Interstate 5, the Tiller-Trail Highway and portions of Highway 138 east of Steamboat.

Forecasters said travel is strongly discouraged because of dangerous conditions. Those who must travel should keep tire chains, a flashlight, blankets, food, water, medications and a fully charged phone with them.
